Spa Chemicals

Sanitizers

Bacteria reproduce very rapidly at normal spa temperatures. Chlorine and bromine sanitizers kill bacteria and micro-organisms that cause water born illnesses and keep the water clear.  Persistent foam formation, turbid or malodorous water are indicators of inadequate sanitizer levels.  Dosage varies depending on organic load, temperature and environmental conditions; test chlorine or bromine residual before treating. To keep spa water protected continuously, a residual sanitizer is needed even if the spa is equipped with an ozone or UV system.

Read and follow manufacturer’s labels or ask our staff for application instructions before applying chemicals to your spa.

Oxidizers

When people use spas, they leave undesirable compounds like body oil, perspiration and cosmetics that can irritate skin, burn eyes and create odors. Oxidizing, also known as shocking the water removes these compounds and restores water clarity and comfort. Shocking should be done weekly in most spas and more frequently for heavily-used or commercial spas.

Read and follow manufacturer’s labels or ask our staff for application instructions before applying chemicals to your pool.

Balancers

Properly balancing your water on a weekly basis will extend the life of your equipment and prevent corrosion, scale formation, mineral staining, eye and skin irritation. Read and follow manufacturer’s labels or ask our staff for application instructions before applying chemicals to your pool.

Please note it is important to test the pool water weekly and treat according to your water chemistry test results.

Balance Pak 100

  • Raises total alkalinity
  • Low total alkalinity causes the water to become corrosive which can cause eye and skin irritation, damage to the spa surface, system and system parts, and cause pH to fluctuate excessively when being adjusted.
  • Ideal range is 125-150ppm
  • Apply 18g per 1,000L to raise the total alkalinity by 10ppm
  • 1kg size available

Lo ‘N Slo

  • Lowers pH and total alkalinity
  • High pH causes the water to become basic which is scale forming and can cause eye and skin irritation, damage to the spa surface, system and system parts, decreased chlorine activity/efficiency and contribute to cloudy water.
  • Ideal range is 7.4-7.6 for optimal chlorine activity and bather comfort
  • Apply 7g per 1,000L if pH reading is 7.6-7.8
  • Apply 15g per 1,000L if pH reading is 7.8-8.0
  • Apply 22g per 1,000L if pH reading is 8.0-8.2+
  • 1.25kg size available

Balance Pak 200

  • Raises pH
  • Low pH causes the water to become corrosive which can cause eye and skin irritation, damage to the spa surface, system and system parts, and cause surface staining.
  • Ideal range is 7.4-7.6 for optimal chlorine activity and bather comfort
  • Apply 6g per 1,000L if pH reading is 7.3
  • Apply 12g per 1,000L if pH reading is 7.2
  • Apply 20g per 1,000L if pH reading is <7.2
  • 1kg size available

Balance Pak 300

  • Raises calcium hardness
  • Low calcium hardness causes the water to become corrosive which can cause eye and skin irritation, damage to the spa surface, system and system parts, and cause surface staining.  Never allow hardness to remain below 100pm.
  • Ideal range is 100-200ppm
  • Apply 10g per 1,000L to raise the calcium hardness by 10ppm
  • 800g size available

Spa Sentry

  • Easy, one step liquid that introduces a buffering compound, preventing pH ‘drift’, softening the water by removing dissolved calcium, enhancing water clarity and helping to prevent stains from dissolved metals.
  • Apply 25ml per 1,000L weekly
  • 800g size available

Cleaners

Routinely draining, cleaning, refilling spas and cleaning filter cartridges is recommended every 3 to 4 months.  It is not recommended to drain outdoor spas when the temperature is below 0°C.  It is important to to remove any slimy build-up that may occur in the spa especially along the waterline.  Slimy build-up is likely a biofilm (microorganisms growing on a surface as opposed to free floating in the water) which are resistant to sanitizers.  Only use products which are made for spa surfaces as many other cleaners can scratch or harm the spa surfaces, alter the water chemistry or lead to a sanitizer demand.

Read and follow manufacturer’s labels or ask our staff for application instructions before applying chemicals to your spa.

Filter Brite

  • Premeasured granular packet that quickly removes grease and oils embedded in filter fabric and controls scale and rust on filter cartridges.

Enhancers

Having beautiful, sparkling, clean and safe water allows you to enjoy spending time in your spa. Enhancers bring out the beauty in your water and keep your filter working at maximum efficiency so you have more time soaking and less time outside of your spa.

Read and follow manufacturer’s labels or ask our staff for application instructions before applying chemicals to your spa.
